Product Engineering Manager
About the job
We are Tagvenue - a SaaS-enabled marketplace transforming how people discover and book venues worldwide, and how venue managers run their daily operations. We’re a team of capable, curious builders focused on solving real problems, elevating industry standards, and developing technology that scales globally. As we grow, we’re not only expanding our marketplace across the UK, US, Australia, Singapore, and Canada - we’re also building a next-generation revenue engine powered by automation, system logic, and data-driven decision-making. Our aim is to make every interaction on the platform smarter, more accurate, and more efficient, while helping venue managers operate more seamlessly and profitably.
Role Mission
We are looking for a leader who will co-own the evolution of our core product and enable the engineering team to consistently deliver high-quality software by creating a healthy engineering culture, actively shaping product and technical decisions, driving execution, and developing engineers to perform at their best.
You will own the delivery, execution, and leadership of an engineering team responsible for the core systems that power bookings, payments, marketplace logic, and venue manager operations, working closely with Product and other stakeholders while being comfortable taking a strong point of view on scope, trade-offs, and priorities.
You will ensure that the team consistently delivers high-quality software, makes sound architectural and product-impacting decisions, and operates with clarity, accountability, and speed - with a clear focus on business outcomes, not just delivery.
As a Product Engineering Manager at Tagvenue, you will:
Lead delivery and raise engineering excellence
Manage and develop a backend team of 6–8 engineers, fostering ownership, clarity, and accountability
Drive predictable delivery: sprint outcomes, velocity, planning, and execution
Remove blockers quickly and ensure consistent delivery of high-impact work
Strengthen technical depth and architecture quality
Work closely with our Principal Developer to set backend standards and improve system quality
Facilitate architecture discussions in areas like payments, booking flows, and multi-tenant logic
Make pragmatic trade-offs and prevent over-engineering
Partner with Product to build what matters
Collaborate closely with Product Managers to refine scope, prioritise effectively, and plan delivery
Translate business goals into clear engineering work
Ensure the team understands customer value, costs, and system constraints
Coach, mentor, and elevate engineers
Provide structured feedback and clear growth paths
Empower seniors to take ownership of complex initiatives
Build a culture that balances psychological safety with strong expectations
Improve processes and operational stability
Influence how we estimate, test, release, and monitor
Identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvements
Support long-term scalability and automation across the platform
Own what your team builds
Teams deliver end-to-end: design, build, ship, and monitor
You ensure visibility, alignment, and predictability across all workstreams
What You Need to Succeed
Experience & technical foundations
5+ years of experience as a software developer.
2 years+ of proven experience leading a team of 5+ engineers
Strong technical fundamentals of software development (FE, BE, Infrastructure)
Experience with SaaS or multi-tenant systems is a plus
Leadership & delivery
High ownership and strong delivery instincts
Ability to prioritise, drive clarity, and make pragmatic decisions
Assertive communication - including saying “no” when needed
Calm, structured, and effective under pressure
Product & ownership mindset
Strong product intuition - ability to balance technical quality with user and business impact
Experience working closely with Product and Design, ideally shaping solutions rather than just executing tickets
Experience as a founder, early employee, or owner of a smaller startup, product, or initiative is highly valued
Team & people management
Experience mentoring senior engineers
Comfortable driving accountability and structured feedback
Excellent collaboration with Product, Design, and other teams
Ways of working

About Tagvenue
Tagvenue, founded in 2015 by Artur Stepaniak and Maksim Kondratjuks in London, began as a bold vision to simplify venue hire for event planners worldwide. What started as a local search engine in the UK to connect planners with unique spaces has evolved into one of the world’s fastest-growing online marketplaces for venue hire, now spanning six countries: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, Canada, and the United States. With over 20,000 verified venues, ranging from popular restaurants and bars to quirky spaces, grand castles, and converted warehouses to elegant ballrooms, conference centers, and photo studios—Tagvenue empowers 700,000 active event organizers monthly to plan over 40,000 events annually.
